Abstract
Pre-stressed concrete large-diameter pipes: joint behaviour during earthquakes R. Viparelli*, A. De Luca\ S. Santorelli*, A. G. The paper tackles the problem of mechanic reliability of large-diameter pre- stressed concrete bell-and-spigot joints. In previous works [7,8] a new methodology, relying on a totally new approach, was developed for the calculation of pipelines. The pipeline is assumed to consist of a continuum of several sections, each with its own resistance to axial or bending stress; under seismic conditions, it is possible to evaluate the different vibrating modes, with related circular frequencies and contributing factors. Such evaluations allow rotati
