Abstract
Spatial distribution of the ground motion during the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake based on the wavelet transform T. Maeda' & F. Sasaki^ Department of Architecture, Waseda University, Japan ". The non-stationarity of frequency contents must have affected non-linear behavior of structures bearing such large ground motion with their plastic deformations; however, most artificial ground motion for design cannot account for this non-stationarity. In this study, we have adapted the wavelet transform on the records and extracted the non-stationarity in different frequency bands by statistics of the wavelet coefficients. Based on these statistics, we are discussing the artificial ground motion modeling with wavelet coefficients. 1 Introduction The 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake has give
