Abstract
Compressive behavior of R.C. members strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced plastic layers G. Campione, N. Miraglia & N. Scibilia Dipartimento di Ingegneria Strutturale e Geotecnica, Universita, Viale delle Scienze, Palermo, Italy Abstract In the present investigation the experimental behaviour in compression of R.C. members having circular and square transverse cross-section and reinforced with carbon unidirectional wraps (CFRP) was analysed. The results obtained show the increase in strength and in ductility dues to the use of CFRP as a strengthening material for R.C. members subjected to axial compressive forces. Finally, an analytical model to determine the bearing capacity of compressed R.C. members with square or circular cross-section reinforced with CFRP is developed. 1 Introduction The research arises from the recent interest in advanced materials for retrofitting and/or strengthening materials of R.C. members in seismic areas. In this paper the focus is prevalent
