Abstract
Mathematical simulation of ship manoeuvres in unbounded and restricted seas Y.L. Vorobyov & Y.E. Drobyshevskiy Ship Theory and Design, Odessa Institute of Marine Engineers (OIME), 34 Mechnikov str., CIS ABSTRACT The computer simulation method is applied to study ship manoeuvres in unbounded and restricted waters. Hydrodynamic forces acting on the ship's hull are evaluated using results of slender body theory and special experimental investigations. The method used makes it possible to predict ship responses under the "hard" manoeuvres when the sway and yaw velocities are comparatively large. The mathematical model is varified by comparing computational results with the data of the full-scale trials conducted under the tween-screw light-carrier. 1. INTRODUCTION Navigational accidents often occur due to incorrect decisions taken by navigators having no proper understanding or information on the ship's man
