Abstract
Marinas are related to sports associations and, in other cases, were developed close to tourist resorts. Nowadays promotions have been restricted. In order to analyze the Mediterranean marinas as a tourist attractions a series of studies were carried out in the Valencian area (Spain). The paper focuses on the study of the economic conditions and impact of these marinas. Jobs, provision of services and running of facilities were determined. Data were collected by means of a questionnaire on the facilities. Valencian marinas are used by 50,000-70,000 people. In 1996 the general budget amounted to over 20 million $. Employment linked to facilities was over 4,000 people, 15 for every 60 berths.
