Abstract
Hydrodynamic and particle tracking numerical modelling techniques are combined with physical and biological data to develop a marine outfall suitability map based on environmental considerations for Kinsale Harbour, Ireland. Primary parameters used in site suitability determination are near field mixing, residence time, bathymetry and the state of the benthos. The physical and biological data for this study were obtained from long-term monitoring of 23 stations throughout the outer harbour area. A finite difference based hydrodynamic model is developed to simulate tide,
