Abstract
A shallow foundation of 0.4m by 0.4m cross section and 1.0m length was built in the "shear stack" available at the shaking table ECOEST facilities in Bristol (UK). The shear stack was filled with a dry coarse Leighton Buzzard sand by pluviation, giving uniform relative density. The foundation was subjected to a vertical load and to one direction shaking acceleration type sine dwell. The foundation movements were recorded by a complex network of instrumentation, consisting of accelerometers and displacement transducers.
