Abstract
The Cathedral of Noto, one of the most important baroque monuments that has given notoriety to the town of Noto, collapsed the 13th March 1996, about five years after the earthquake of Santa Lucia that took place in December 13th 1990. The collapse has pointed out serious deficiencies in constructive materials of pilasters, even in their capacity to support vertical loads.
