Abstract
In this paper a simplified method for non-linear dynamic analysis of masonry buildings with rigid floor diaphragms is proposed, considering the vertical and in- plane response of the walls. The relevant feature of the method resides in a unique-kind of macro-element, suitable to modelling the mechanical behaviour of the building plain masonry walls. The analysis will be conducted by a direct numerical "step-by-step" integration of its differential equations of motion, (treated beforehand to reduce in number and to uncouple these equations).
