Abstract
The European Union (EU) is promoting, within Telematics Application Programme, several Research and Development (R&D) projects, devoted to Transport Sector, containing high profile telematics technology applied to planning and operational tasks. In particular, MARCO, acronym of Multilevel Advanced Railways Conflict resolution and Operation control, concerns the development of telematics tools for traffic conflict management: the project purpose is to develop a set of tools, algorithms and technologies for the Conflict Detection and Resolution (CDR) in a wide range of real time applications within railways and metres networks.
