Abstract
The ability to resolve closely spaced frequencies of two high-resolution AR spectral methods, the Burg's and Marple's approaches, is examined by using time series of coastal currents measured in waters of Canary Islands. We emphasise their usefulness to resolve tidal harmonic components with close frequencies and low frequency components. 1 Introduction In physical oceanography, like in many other branches of science and engineering, it is very common to handle time series data from field observations. A basic procedure for extracting information from experimental records is to transform the sequences into the frequency domain and make use o
