Abstract
An infinite element for high-frequency boundary element analyses of machine foundation response T.G. Davies, S. Bu Department of Civil Engineering, University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK ABSTRACT This paper describes a novel boundary element solution of the response of machine foundations using infinite boundary elements to describe the far-field displacement behaviour outside the immediate vicinity of the loaded area, coupled with the full- space fundamental solution for harmonic point loading. The dynamic decay function assumed in the analysis is based on Rayleigh wave attenuation away from the centre of the foundation. Integrals over the infinite boundary elements are computed between successive zeros of the integrand and an Euler transformation has been used to accelerate this slowly convergent procedure. Illustrative results for square foundations, for dimensionless frequencies up to ten, are presented in order to illustrate the potent
