Abstract
On determination of foundation impedances from forced-vibration tests B. Verbic, S. Meier Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Sarajevo, Has ana Brkica 24, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina ABSTRACT The derivation of the foundation-impedance functions from the forced-vibra- tion-test data produces sometimes unreasonable or even physically unac- ceptable results, which could only originate from errors in conducting the tests. An analysis has shown that a relatively small inaccuracy in record- ing a foundation response results in certain frequency regions in an error of several hundred percent in the computed impedance functions. Possi- ble sources of such errors are difficulties in accurate measurements of the phases and accurate determination of the exciting-force frequency when a foundation vibrations are generated by a rotating-mass-type vibrators, and possible nonuniformity of soil properties across the foundation-soil interface at field tests. The results of
