Abstract

The grand staircases of the Monastery of San Martin Pinario and of the Colegio del Cardenal are two main examples of daring structural concepts and excellent architectures. Even if the dimensions and the architectural styles are different, the techniques, the materials, the struc- tural behaviour and the relevant damage that they have suffered are very similar. The study that has been carried out, after having analysed the structural behaviour and investigated the skilful techniques that have been utilised, has proposed to correct the defor- mation through a series of jacks and then reestablish the "arch behaviours" that have been lost; no alteration
