Abstract
The paper is devoted to theoretical investigation of hydrodynamic interaction in a system of two spade rudders located in propeller slipstream. The authors applied the common vortex lattice model of screw propeller to calculate velocity distribution in propeller slipstream at the position of a rudder, and the surface vorticity distribution for rudder blade to determine forces and moments. This way actual geometry of rudder blade as well as non-uniform inflow conditions can be taken into consideration. Sample results presented in this paper reveal strong influence of propeller slipstream on performance of rudders. 1 Introduction Multiple-blade rudders are usually applied on inland vess
