Abstract
For four years since computer aided design and production was first introduced to the curriculum of the Ocean and Ship Technology Institute, students have been instructed in different computer programmes designed for the engineering industry as well as for the shipbuilding industry. This paper describes some aspects of the students education which is aided by the latest innovations of sophisticated technology , didactic centres and industry. The paper also deals with particular difficulties in the didactic process e.g. with the transition from the operational system DOS or WINDOWS to the VMS and with the instruction in making use of the drafting system, which differs from the former systems e.g. AUTOCAD and the like.
