Abstract
A stress-strain analysis has been undertaken of the basic structure of the acting unit of an underground Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) machine currently being used in the Ukraine, with the use of a personal computer and related software. The resulting stress-strain state of the bucket, boom and associated units under maximum load conditions is presented and discussed, particularly the stress distribution in the respective structures and the interaction of the various parts through the coupling and reaction points. 1 Introduction Underground mining vehicles, such as Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) machines require the following attributes; compactness,
