Abstract
The minimal strain distribution around a fatigue crack-tip initiation is eval- uated by coupling a lithographically deposited grid onto the sample surface and one of two proposed displacement calculation methods. Low-carbon steel flat samples were submitted to fatigue conditions using a new piezoelec- tric test system that permits in-situ Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) tests.
