Abstract
Considering the fatigue crack initiation site, all the materials can be classified into the following three types. That is, the first type is the material whose crack initiation site is a slipped part, the second type is the material whose crack initiation site is always a defect and the third type is the material whose crack initiation site is the slipped part or the defect depending on loading conditions. In this study, the characteristics of the third type is clarified through the successive observations of fatigue process in a stainless cast steel. 1 Introduction The fatigue fracture of an annealed steel is usually caused by the propagation of a crack initiated from a slip band or a grain boundary on the spec
