Abstract
When a thin walled open section is subjected to torsion it has a tendency to warp. If connected to another section at an angled joint, this warping can cause significant twisting and bending of the second section. The direction and amount of this twisting is related to the type of joint used. This form of structure cannot be analysed using classical analytical technique due to the complexity and nature of the problem This structural form can however be analysed using the finite element method.
