Abstract
The quality and product reliability of designs created in a computer-aided engineering environment can benefit from a user-friendly interaction between the finite element (FE) analysis and the statistical design of experiments (SDE) techniques that can be employed to evaluate the FE output data. This combination can be helpful in understanding the effects of the design parameters in a wide variety of engineering design problems. This paper discusses application of the Taguchi experimental data analysis technique that employs orthogonal arrays to reduce the number of experiments or finite element runs needed to thoroughly evaluate a design. The simultaneous use of SDE data analysis techniques with the same FE
