Abstract
In previous papers, [6], [7], the authors have formulated an effective ap- proach to the analysis of nonhomogeneous bodies with prescribed boundary displacements and have used the transformation field analysis for relating the components of stress or strain tensors and the components of eigen- strains or eigenstresses. This approach was based on the extended Hashin- Shtrikinan variational principle in combination with the BEM. This paper deals with an extended dual variational principle for bounded nonhomo- geneous bodies. By means of internal parameters, eigenstrains and/or eigens tresses it is possible to increase the bearing capacity of structures, or to minimize the stress excesses. The BEM is used as a powerful tool for a numerical solution to the problem of optimal prestraining of anchors
