Abstract
A two-dimensional numerical model for the non-linear gas flow in multi-layer porous media was developed. The proposed model is based on the Dual Reciprocity Method. A scaling factor (a technique commonly employed in laboratory studies but not in numerical analysis) was used leading to big improvement of the numerical results. 1 Introduction The main objective of the present work is to develope an efficient 2-D numer- ical model to solve the problem of the production and flux of methane out of a multi-layer landfill. A reliable numerical model, which can simulate the pro- duction and flux of gases migrating through a landfill and their releases into the atmosphere, can be used as an efficient tool for the evaluation of possible control
