Abstract

A complete multiple reciprocity approximation for the non-permanent Stokes flow H. Power Wessex Institute of Technology, University of Portsmouth, Ashurst Lodge, Ashurst, Southampton SO40 7AA, UK Summary In this work, we will apply the Boundary Element Multiple Reciprocity method to the Stokes system of equations, showing that the technique yields an incomplete series representation of the corresponding fundamental solu- tion. For the present case an additional integral relation is found, that makes the Multiple Reciprocity series complete. 1 Introduction The Boundary Element Method is a well established numerical technique. One of its main advantages being the considerable reduction in data prepara- tion, in relation to domain methods, as only surface elements are necessary. The basis of the method is that a fundamental solution is used to take some or all of the terms in the governing equation to the boundary. Theoretically any elliptic second ord
