Abstract

Horyna Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Vysehradskd 4$? 128 49 Prague 2, The Czech Republic ABSTRACT The paper deals with the problem of dynamic characteristics of a hyper- bolic natural draught cooling tower. Its shell thickness and other geomet- rical and physical characteristics are subjected to differences from their nominal values. These deviations are centered random functions of their position on the shell and of the service life of the structure. Similar influ- ence can be caused also by other modifications of the structure, such as openings for some new technological equipment etc. The paper presents a numerical solution of natural vibration with regard to these deviations by the FEM respecting the real thickness and geometry of the structure in many alternatives.
