Abstract
Identification of the viscoelastic material properties of orthotropic plates using a mixed numerical/experimental technique H. Sol, J. De Visscher, W.P. De Wilde Department Analysis of Structures, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium ABSTRACT A mixed numerical/experimental technique based on the measurement of vibrational data has been developed for the identification of the complex moduli of thin orthotropic plates. Allthough the technique is very promising and yields excellent results for many types of materials, an extensive effort has been done over the last years to check the accuracy and the reliability of the technique for different orthotropic materials in practical situations. It has been found that the main source of errors are the so-called "model errors". These are errors due to the fact that the test specimen quality is never "perfect" and therefore not satisfies all the assumptions made in the numerical model. This paper gives an overview o
