Abstract
A robust numerical method for the two-dimensional standing-wave in a tank with a free-surface movement Y. K. Suh Division of Mechanical and Industrial System Engineering, Dong-A University, Republic of Korea Abstract In this paper, a robust numerical method for computation of the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations for the decaying motion of an incompressible fluid within a rectangular container having a free surface is presented. The free surface properties including the surface dilatational viscosity as well as the surface shear viscosity dictated by a surfactant are considered in the simulation. The computational grid system is composed of vertical grid lines which are fixed during the computation and their pairs which are nearly horizontal and adaptive to the deforming free-surface. The primary interest in this study lies in the damping rate of the wave's natural motion. For this end, the side and bottom walls are set with slip conditions, so that the damping is determined only by dis
