Abstract

Important aspects in modeling structures using BEASY G. S. ~alern' & Y. The flexibility and stifhess techniques are used to couple different substructural domains. Important aspects for modeling the relevant different load sets are considered to avoid undesirable boundary conditions especially for large structures. This paper describes the approach adopted in BEASY with some recommendations for better results. 1 Introduction The analysis of a large structure that consists of coupled continuums with skeletal elements may consider a large number of degrees of freedom (DOF) on the interfaces when the structure is broken into sub structures [I]. Since the finite element method (FEM) was first introduced in the 1950s, it has been used in the analysis of wide range of st
