Abstract
Initial conditions contributions in frequency domain analysis: a new BEM approach W. 5. Mansur, A. I. Abreu & J. A. M. Carrer Civil Engineering Department, COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Abstract This work presents a methodology to consider the contribution of initial velocity and displacement in the frequency domain formulation of the BEM. The paper describes how initial conditions can be replaced by pseudo-forces represented by generalized functions. The generation of such pseudo-forces and their discrete Fourier Transform (Direct DFT, and Inverse IFT) are the subject of a short discussion and explanation. At the end of the paper two examples are presented in order to show the accuracy of the proposed approach 1 Introduction Several BEM formulations have been developed in order to solve transient problems, governed by the scalar wave equation. For general purposes, timedomain (TD) and transformed-domain formulations can be employed to solve scalar wave pr
