Abstract

DRM-MD for flow and transport through fractured rocks T, Sarnardzioska & V. Popov Wessex Institute of Technology, UK Abstract This paper describes the implementation and the comparison of two different models for simulation of flow and transport through fractured porous media using the dual reciprocity method - multi domain (DRM-MD) scheme. The models used were: the equivalent continuum model and the discrete fracturelnon-homogeneous model. The continuum model defines the equivalent space-averaged properties of the porous media and treats the problem as homogeneous. The non-homogeneous model solves the flow through the fracture network and the porous media. The DRM-MD approach has been used in both cases showing high level of flexibility and straightforwardness in the implementation for different problems. The influence of variation of some flow and transport parameters is analysed and a good agreement between the two models has been obtained. 1 Introduction Different conceptual models have
