Abstract
Due to the moving boundary nature of the solidification and melting problems, the application of the standard time domain boundary element formulation of the problem presents the difficulty of the numerical evaluation of the history de- pendence, representing more and more work as time proceeds. In that regard, we present an algorithm based on a Green function reported by Greengard and Strain [4], which allows a Fourier representation of the domain integral in the reinitialization scheme for BEM used, for which it is possible to carry out the history integration in a recursive manner. 1 Introduction There are an important group of problems in which a material undergoes a change of phase with generation or absorption of heat. Examples are the melting and solidification processes. A scheme for BEM for heat transfer problems
