Abstract
The solution of initial strain problems is proposed using boundary element method without domain discretizations. This scheme can be realized through the integral formulation of boundary-type in which the initial strains in the domain are fully represented by complete series of polynomial at the boundary via the intrinsic correlation among the integral kernels and integral theorem. Feasibility of the proposed procedure is verified by the numerical examples of residual stress calculations of typical welded plates. 1 Introduction The boundary element method has merits characterized by dividing elements only at the boundaries and with high precision of solution
