Abstract
A code combining boundary elements and moving points is used in the study of pumped coastal aquifers, which may suffer from seawater intrusion. Boundary elements are used to identify parts of the coastline, through which seawater enters the flow field, and to calculate the respective inflow rates. Moving points are used in a second step, to produce pathlines of seawater. Since wells are described quite accurately, as concentrated loads, those affected by seawater can be clearly identified. Moreover, injection wells can be taken into account, too. The code can be used to improve allocation of the total well flow rate among existing wells, to plan the construction of new wells or to calculate the total permissible w
