Abstract
This paper deals with a dual reciprocity boundary element formulation for the solution of three-dimensional problems of dynamic piezoelectricity. When using the fundamental solution of the static piezoelectric operator as test function in a weighted residual statement, a domain integral contain- ing the inertia term remains in the integral representation of the general- ized displacement field. This domain integral can be transformed to the boundary using the Dual Reciprocity Method (DRM), yielding a system of ordinary differential equations in time domain. The time integration is performed using a damped Newmark algorithm, which is shown to yield better results than Houbolt's algorithm usually employed in transient elas- tic analyses with DR
