Abstract
A regular integral equation based on the direct boundary element method is developed to solve the exterior acoustic radiation and scattering prob- lems. By taking an imaginary source surface inside the radiating boundary and following the usual discretization and integration procedures employed in the boundary element method, both the singularities of the integrands and the nonuniqueness problems do not arise. In addition, multiple colloca- tion points with different outward normals can be placed at same position, thus the difficulty of slope discontinuity can be overcome. This p
