Abstract
In this work, the distinctive features of an original implementation of the Boundary Element Method (BEM) are discussed for the solution of important types of electromagnetic problems, concerning in particular the analysis of variously-shaped dielectric waveguides for microwave or optical applications. The present implementation is based on a non-conventional boundary formulation for guided waves in cylindrical-type structures. In the pre-processing procedures, we have reached a specific expression for the integral-equation system where the spatial derivatives act only on the integral kernel elements (related to the two-dimensional free-space Green's fu
