Abstract
We will apply the three-dimensional boundary element method and the method of nonlinear optimization to the problem of estimating the position of a current dipole in the brain, using a new object function based on the potential due to the dipole placed in the infinite homogeneous region. Numerical experiments per- formed for the three concentric spheres representing the brain, skull, and scalp. as the model of the head, validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 1 Introduction We consider the problem of estimating the position of excitation in the brain based on measurements of the electric potential on the scalp. The excitation is modelled as a curr
