Abstract
The two-dimensional problem of analysing the interaction between planar cracks and the boundary of an anisotropic elastic half-space is formulated in terms of a system of hypersingular-boundary integral equations. The boundary of the half- space is partly irregular. For a specific example, the integral equations are solved numerically. 1 Introduction The analysis of stress around cracks in an elastic half-space bounded by a flat surface (plane) has been carried out by many researchers, e.g. Nied [7], Sweeney [8] and Uzel et al. [9]. The present paper is concerned with the two- dimensional problem of arbitarily-located planar cracks in an anisotropic elastic half-space having an exterior boundary which is partly curved
