Abstract
In the present study the action of a turbulent gas flow on heat transfer to the wall and surface heating have been investigated theoretically and experimentally. In theory at the flow side a boundary layer model for determining analytically the heat flux into the surface is used. At the wall side an analytical solution of the heat conduction equation is given in order to calculate the wall heating. Solutions are found for the wall temperature distribution for both, non- coated walls as well as coated walls up to three coating layers. Experimentally the wall temperature distribution has been measured and is compared with the analytical solutions gathered from the heat conduction equation. Two flow problems h
