Abstract
An one - dimensional, fully coupled, implicit, numerical model which simulates the bed changes, due to aggradation and degradation, in alluvial channels is presented. The model combines the hydrodynamic equations (continuity of mass, momentum) with the continuity equation of sediment. The sediment transport capacity is predicted with the aid a bed load formula. The model uses a variety of such formulas to respond to each application requirements. The above equations constitute a non-linear hyperbolic system which is solved numerically using the Two - Step, Mac Cormack - Implicit, Predictor - Corrector scheme. The model is tested with various applications. In all cases the agreement between the existing and the computed results is satisfactory. 1. Introduction
