Abstract
A solidification process proceeding in the volume of pure metal or alloy can be treated as a macroscopic one, but more exact approach requires to regard the microscopic aspects of considered phenomena. In literature one can find the mathematical models of crystallization both for the pure metals [1], as well as for the binary alloys [2, 3, 4]. These models base oneself on the laws describing the course of nucleation and nuclei growth, while the relation between linear growth rate and the liquid fraction in casting volume is given by the Johnson - Mehl - Avrami - Kolmogorov formulas. The crystallization model determines a term of energy equation called the source function. In this paper the other
