Abstract
Within the framework of a research on the problem of the interference between lifting surfaces, experiments were carried out in order to gain a deeper insight into the causes of the discrepancies between numerical and experimental results. The position and intensity of the vorticity field in a wing-canard configuration were measured by means of a vorticity probe. Results showed that the canard tip-vortex can undergo quite different evolu- tion depending on whether it passes above or below the wing. By comparing experimental and numerical evaluation of the wing pressure distributions, a numerical verification of specific aspects, emerged from the experiments, was performed. This analysis confirmed that the accuracy of potential co- des decreases when the canard wake is subject
