Abstract

Ganoulis Dcpa/fme^< o/ Cz'^zV #n#meerm# Thessaloniki 54006, Macedonia, Greece ABSTRACT The laminar flow through a staggered bundle of five cylinder rows in the streamwise direction is examined herein. The finite difference method was used for the solution of the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations, in the for- mulation where the two components of the fluid velocity and the pressure are the field variables. A square cylinder arrangement was tested, with pitch to diameter ratio 1.41. The Reynolds numbers considered, based on the inflow velocity and the cylinder diameter, were 60 and 120. For the validation of the numerical solution, the streamwise component of the fluid velocity was measured experimentally with a Laser-Doppler anemometer, at similar conditions with that of the computation.
