Abstract
A dynamic BEM analysis for uniformly long structures with local irregu- larities is presented. The formulation consists of the following two steps: a) a quasi two dimensional analysis, in which the dynamic interaction of an incident wave with a long structure having a uniform cross section is considered, and b) a local three dimensional analysis where the scattering problem by local irregularities is solved. Numerical examples are shown for a cylindrical inclusion with local debonding embedded in an infinite elastic solid. Large deformations are found in the local neighboring area of the debonding. 1 Introduction Civil structures such as expressways, tunnels, life lines and so on may be analyzed as uniformly long structures. Such a long structure has, however, u
