Abstract
Compared to the other types of application of the Boundary Element Method (BEM) for engineering analysis, the percentage if published work relating to the solution of plate bending problems by the BEM is relatively small. This paper reviews, briefly, progress in the development of the BEM for the analysis of plate bending problems. Following the review it concentrates specifically on recent developments relating to vibration analysis, and techniques which have been used within the method for dealing with geometric and boundary discontinuities in plate bending analysis and discusses the potential advantages arising from these recent developments within the BEM. 1 Introduction One of the earliest papers in the use of the BEM for plate bending analysis was publis
