Abstract
A boundary element formulation with Lagrangian particle description for two-dimensional nonlinear sloshing analysis K. Abe, T. Kamio Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Niigata University, 8050 Igarashi 2-Nocho, Niigata City, Japan ABSTRACT A boundary element method to nonlinear analysis of free-surface motion in a two-dimensional container is developed. A unifying formulation of the rela- tion between the kinematic condition and the boundary values is attempted for Lagrangian particle description. By using the weighted residual formula- tion to the relation between the velocity of the fluid particle and the gradient of the potential on the surface, the kinematic condition is described by the boundary values. A time integration scheme is constructed in accordance with the Newmark-0 method. The proposed method with linear element pro- vides second-order convergence in both space and time directions. Through numerical examples, accuracy and feasibi
