Abstract
Supercomputer applications in 2-d and 3-d transient dynamics K.-H. Elmer Curt-Risch-Institut fur Dynamik, Schall - und Mefttechnik (CRI), Universitdt Hannover, Appelstr. 9A, 30167 Hannover, Germany ABSTRACT The broad frequency range in transient dynamic problems needs large systems with many degrees of freedom and timesteps for the numerical solution of transient dynamic problems. Fast algorithms and programs for dynamic problems have to be developed to make effective use of today's powerful vectorcomputers and parallel computers to get high accuracy of the numerical system with short computational time. The FD-program TRANS-DYN, developed at the CRI, uses a fast vectorized explicit algorithm for the solution of 2- and 3-dimensional structural dynamic problems and mechanical wave propagation problems on supercomputers. Examples of applications of soil-dynamic problems and 3-D beam theory with graphic visualization show the performance of the program on a SIEMENS S400. INTRODU
