Abstract
Natural resources data often show spatial dependence among observations. This is an important drawback to traditional multivariate statistical method- ology. However, geostatistical techniques can deal with such spatial depen- dence and incorporate within the statistical model the necessary information to make reliable predictions based on kriging. In this paper we analyze and show the results of a general study based on data collected by means of a GIS system. The goal is to guide land use planners and managers particularly in soils under Mediterranean environ- mental conditions. 1 Introduction A feature common to the earth sciences is the nature of their data. Most of the properties of interest vary continuous
