Abstract
This paper focuses on utilisation of agricultural data created in control and ad- ministration, in a way so that they are useable for planning at local and regional scales. Accessing data collected for control is often technically and legally difficult and the data will usually require extensive processing before it can be used to aid planning. However, data collected for control is a rich source of information and several examples have shown that planning decisions can be improved if these data can be utilised. The Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences (DIAS) has established a data- base "Research-aimed Agricultural Register" (RAR) that is used in both research and planning.
