Abstract

This paper presents a fault diagnostic assistance approach which builds in Model-Based, Case-Based and Rule-Based reasoning techniques. The Model-Based Reasoning layer retains the description of the equipment to be diagnosed and some basic resolution capabilities. The Cased-Based Reasoning layer stores the past incident solutions so that they can be reused for similar future cases. The Rule-Based Reasoning layer synthesizes the most frequent incidents under powerful expert rules. Combining these techniques in a global resolution strategy improves the efficiency of the target Knowledge Based System and increases the scope of its initial competences. I.
